When we talk to parents about traveling with kids, one major pain point (besides the dreaded plane ride itself, of course!) is what to do with the car seat when flying. Don’t overthink this one - there are quick and easy solutions depending on the type of vacation. Here’s some guidance for when you’re deciding what to do!
Bring the Car Seat?
Best When: You’re going to be using multiple different cars (taxi, Uber) throughout your trip and you’re taking a car to/from the airport(s)
Don’t Bring the Car Seat?
Best When: You can take public transport (or have a ride) to/from airports and don’t plan on using multiple cars at your destination.
In the end, we suggest mapping out your trip plans and seeing where you may want a car seat - if it’s more than one or two times on either end of the trip, bring your car seat with you or use a rental service. In most cases, you’ll just need to get it to and from the airport counter - and after that you have your own car seat with you for any scenario that may come up.
